Summer Work
Over the summer I was kindly asked to do some CG work for the architects I use to work for. They wanted a few renders and a walk-through of a new hospital theatre they had been designing for a New Cross Hospital. I obviously jumped at the chance and started working on a few elements which would be included in the final scene.
The first element I worked on is a ceiling-mounted monitor system for a large x-ray machine/body scanner called the Allura Xper by Philips. The purpose behind the model was to showcase the standard I could model the theatre to. Here is a couple of renders of the model and a short video displaying how it moves with the rig I created.
Left – Mentalray render of the monitor. Right – Screen Grab showing the rig design.

To go accompany the monitor, I also created a rigged model of the bed that comes with it. This was a little bit more interesting to model and rig as it had a rubber collar around the joints to hide the insides. I chose to use a driven blendshape to recreate the bend and flex of the rubber, something we had learnt in one of our modelling lessons. I was pretty happy with the outcome!
